‘Keeping the heart of Industry Pumping’ www.cambscompressors.co.uk Compressor noise reduction solution Craig Turner delighted to be appointed Service Director After almost 10 years since joining Cambs Compressors after leaving the Army, I’m delighted to take on this new level of responsibility. We’re growing and needed a more robust management structure “I was delighted when I was approached by Mark and Annthea to take this step up and become Service Director. The business has changed significantly during my period here. The range of industry sectors, the diversity of our clients operating within them, and their changing needs has all contributed to making my time here, feel very worthwhile. I look forward to helping the business develop further, and feel we are fortunate to have an incredible bunch of people here. They have adapted to the technology changes, and ways of working.” Craig Turner Service Director Craig has shown the leadership qualities needed “Craig has a unique ability to stay calm in the most demanding situations. Anyone who’s been in business in just the last few years will understand the impacts of Brexit, a pandemic, and the unprecedented speed of the switch to an online way of working has had. Craig has led with a cool head. It’s probably due to his military background, but whatever is thrown at Craig, he has a knack of dealing with it and making it look easy.” Mark Fryer Managing Director Complaints of noisy compressors coupled with the growing need to increase capacity, posed a problem for GBR Rail Freights’ engineering shed. Freight train engineering workshop needed a quieter compressor solution with increased capacity. When GBR Rail Freight decided to re-open the March Up Yard rail sidings complex in Cambridgeshire, much of the former brownfield site had been developed with residential housing. Although the redevelopment scheme incorporated new fencing and acoustic barriers to mitigate the impact of the yard’s re-opening on nearby residents, the sites growth in the subsequent years saw increasing noise complaints. Working closely with Cambs Compressors, their FMC wanted a cost-effective solution which addressed both the need for increased air capacity, and was significantly quieter. It solved the growth challenges posed, and provided our residential neighbours the quieter solution they had been pressing for.” Dean Harlow
