Mathew Mandipira Cambs Compressors Sales Apprentice with Pretoria Energy Company’s new installation Congratulations to our Apprentice Engineer Ethan Day After passing his driving test and successfully entering into the second year of his apprenticeship, Ethan now has more responsibility and a company vehicle. Engineering and maintenance apprenticeship – a career developing nicely It’s always good to see the next generation come through and meet the career challenges set. Whether this is personal development, academic or putting the ‘on- the-job’ work experience into practice, by developing the engineering skills needed to identify issues and rectify them. So it’s a very timely pass of his driving test for Ethan, as this now enables him to develop further and work more independently. Ethan joined Cambs Compressors straight from school, at the age of 17 and now is one year in to his three year apprenticeship – he’s doing really well, and we’re now on the hunt for the next apprentice to join the team. Looking forward to developing my skills and experience “The engineering and maintenance apprenticeship is a great combination. It’s developing both my understanding of engineering at an academic level, studying with Cambs Regional College (CRC) and also the practical side, working with highly skilled and experienced engineers, across a variety of sectors and compressed air applications. Working at Cambs Compressors means every day is different, which I really enjoy, and there’s a great team of people here.” Ethan Day Apprentice Engineer Energy company chooses Cambs Compressors for new installation Congratulations to Jordan Baker on qualifying as an Engineer Compressed air in energy production Pretoria Energy Company own and operate anaerobic digestion facilities, and they lead the way in sustainable renewable energy solutions. Located on their Cambridgeshire farm, they cultivate and harvest energy crops that are then utilised in anaerobic digesters. This transformative process generates both gas and electricity, effectively powering the national grid with clean, sustainable energy. To further minimise their environmental impact, they capitalise on the by-products of this process. On site they convert these by-products into Natura Grow Pellets and Liquid Fertilisers, effectively closing the sustainability loop while simultaneously reducing their carbon footprint. It’s this process that required an upscaling of its compressed air requirements and a redesign to facilitate the growth ambitions of the business. Cambs Compressors have a great reputation, and the support is second to none “I’ve worked with Cambs Compressors for many years, and I have come to trust their recommendations, as they have never let me down. The company’s growth and ambition to expand further meant that the existing compressed air infrastructure needed a complete rethink. It was also of an age where the energy efficiency conflicted with our mission to minimise our environmental impact. Working with Mathew Mandipira, Cambs Compressors Sales Apprentice, and under the engineering guidance of Mark Fryer, they proposed the new solution. The installation was delivered on schedule, on budget and without any issues. In my role as Engineering Facilitator at Pretoria Energy, I have no reservations in recommending Cambs Compressors as they have proven to be very reliable, professional and responsive.” Martyn Graves Engineering Facilitator Pretoria Energy Company It’s been great to see Jordan’s personal development Jordan is a real asset to the business, since joining the business in 2020 and has matured into a confident, socially skilful young man - and a great field engineer. His development as a person is a credit to him, and he has displayed a real talent for helping others. We have a wealth of experience within the engineering team here at Cambs. Jordan is now set to become our apprentice learning mentor We’ve already seen the benefits of getting the apprentices to share their understanding and experiences of the academic work needed to complete the engineering apprenticeship. This is why we have now developed this new mentor position for our apprentices. Jordan will support Dave Hubbard, whose vast experience makes him the perfect mentor from a practical engineering and trouble- shooting perspective.
