The digital transformation of Cambs Compressors started in 2020, and although the journey has been challenging – we’re there!

 

Systems designed around delivering better service based upon client feedback

The last 5 years have seen our business transfer from paper-based systems and spreadsheets to a consolidated central digital system with 24/7 access via smart tablets. This means all work on a clients compressed air system is recorded in real time. Plus, the engineer has access to site specific information and equipment manuals at the tap of a screen. In implementing this system, we’ve identified areas which could be improved to deliver a more efficient service. This includes taking on client feedback on ways to make our service delivery fit their needs or overcome frustrations. As a result, we have streamlined our processes to make what we do focused on delivering the best return on investment for our clients.

 

A radical overhaul of our spares stock

The system enables us to identify the consumable and essential spares of one client with whom we provide a contracted maintenance under the various service level agreements. This means we are now carrying significantly more stock, and our engineers have visibility of what’s held centrally relevant to the service call or emergency call-out. This means we’re able to improve upon our ‘first visit fix’ KPI’s and minimise any delays waiting for parts.

An extended fleet of compressors for hire

Initially this service was to predominantly get emergency breakdowns up and running in the shortest possible timescale. However based upon client feedback, we have extended the fleet to provide short and long-term hire options, to compliment the emergency compressor breakdown cover.

Understanding why clients choose Cambs Compressors

When you are at the coalface doing the work, it’s sometimes difficult to understand why we are different from other compressed air companies. In undertaking this digital transformation, we were also made aware of why our clients actually chose us. The overwhelming opinion was that we are significantly more technical, which means we solve problems others cannot. It’s something we took for granted and it’s only when you hear several clients tell you  why they chose us – that it sinks in! All of this and more has been factored into our new website. We feel we have a more accurate representation of Cambs Compressors online for both existing and potential customers to get a more comprehensive understanding of what we do.
